Cornell startup company may expand rapidly

A company that was initially started at the Cornell Business and Technology Park has the potential to expand outside of Ithaca, New York, according to R & D Magazine.

MicroGen Systems Incorporated, a startup technology company, has expanded the base of operations for the business at the Cornell University park. A product that turns vibrations into electricity has begun to be marketed for several different sectors within American industry, the news source reported.

The sensors that are necessary for operating motor vehicles could use the technology that is being marketed by MicroGen Systems, as these devices may possibly be able to use power from the road vibrations instead of an external source, UPI.com reported.

"It's not only the Cornell facilities that attracted MicroGen, but it's the Cornell graduates. Cornell is turning out a lot of smart people that I can hire," Robert Andosca, founder and president of MicroGen, told R & D about the possible expansion.

Emerging companies with unique value like MicroGen may want to consider an intellectual property exchange in an effort to protect their ideas.
